The Department of Natural Resources offers direct purchase of easements, in kind and technical assistance, and property tax benefits to landowners in order to restore grassland and wetlands in a four county area in East Central Wisconsin. The program provides for purchase of perpetual easements to restrict timber, cropping and development rights at 40-60% of fair market value. If landowners do not wish to sell easements they may receive in kind assistance in the form of seed, labor, and materials to restore wetlands in exchange for entering into long term agreements with the Department.
